So…I’m traveling again. Buckle up…there’s gonna be a lot of blog posts from the road. I’m in Los Angeles for 8 days.

My trip started the day after Christmas. I had a late morning flight from Grand Rapids to Los Angeles via Chicago.

We had a pretty lengthy layover at O’Hare. So many times I’ve had like a half hour there and had to run to my gates. We had the opposite this time. A two hour layover meant plenty of time to walk at a leisurely pace.

It also meant I had time to grab breakfast. I needed something to drink and started walking towards one of the gift shops when I saw a bagel shop that also had bottles of Pepsi.

I stopped at The Great American Bagel in Terminal 3 at O’Hare International Airport. We were on an American Flight and Terminal 3 is where many of the larger American Airlines planes depart from. The Great American Bagel is right near the end of the terminal. It’ just a small walk up order restaurant without dedicated seating. There is plenty of seating at the gates though so most people just grab their drinks or food stuffs and go sit down at their gate.

There was no one there when I walked up but it still took a few minutes to get acknowledged. There was some pretty intense conversation happening that I wasn’t part of so I just looked over the menu then glanced at the bagel case to figure out what kind of bagel I was going to get my sandwich on.

I ordered the Egg & Cheese w/Bacon and picked an Everything Bagel. There are also “Super Bagel” options which appear to just be bigger versions of their bagels but there is an upcharge for that. I stuck with a regular size bagel and a Pepsi. The total for the two items was just under $15.

It took just a few minutes for the sandwich to be put together and toasted. When it was done, I grabbed the bag and headed back to my gate to eat before we boarded the plane.

The sandwich is exactly what it sounds like it is. There’s egg, cheese, and bacon on an Everything Bagel. You can’t really mess that up. The sandwich was bigger than I thought it would though. I don’t think I needed the “Super Bagel.” I’m kind of a nervous flyer anyway and we had a pretty long flight from ORD to LAX so I limited my food and beverage intake so I wouldn’t need to get up mid flight.

Bagel sandwiches are the best on the go breakfast options. The Great American Bagel is a brand that’s all over the place. I’m sure I’ve probably eaten at one somewhere sometime in the past but I couldn’t tell you when and where off hand. This sandwich was really tasty and really what I needed at the moment. It would be several hours after this quick breakfast before we’d get to eat again, so grabbing this at the airport was a smart move.
