Yeah. I’m blogging a lot back to back to back. I’m trying to get some local ones in because I’m going to California for work next week…..so there will be a lot of travel blogs coming….which annoys some people.
I’ve been driving around Kalamazoo a lot the last few weeks and when I get to different parts of town, it reminds me that there’s a restaurant there that I haven’t been to yet.
I love me some Jersey Giant Subs and there are several locations around town. It’s been a while since I’ve had one though. I was near one of the newer locations in Comstock Township and decided today was a good day for sub.
Jersey Giant Subs Gull Road location is right at the corner of Gull and Sprinkle in the shopping center on the northwest corner. The shop is kind of in the back corner of the V-shaped shopping center. The spot was previously a cash advance store.
The store is set up like all of the other Jersey Giant’s in town. There’s a large order counter on one side of the room where sandwiches are sliced fresh and assembled in front of you.
The other side is a small dining room with large letters painted on the wall spelling out the name of the business.
I ordered the #6 which is known as The Boss. As my sandwich was being sliced up, another employee rung me up. I went with the 8″ sub this time instead of the usual 16″. I’m pretty sure that’s the only time I’ve ever done that. I also made sure to tell the cashier I wanted the hot giardiniera on my sandwich which is not included in the toppings and costs and extra buck. Totally worth it though. The cost for the sandwich was right around $15
The Boss is a sandwich with ham, capacola, prostini, salami, pepperoni, and cheese. I added on pickles, lettuce, the Jersey Juice (a vinegar and oil combo), salt, pepper, oregano, and the aforementioned hot giardiniera. The sandwiches are huge. Even the 8″ is a lot of sandwich. It’s very rare I would actually eat a whole 16″ on my own in one sitting but I would save part of it for later. I decided not to to that this time. The 8″ was almost too much this time. They build them so thick and there’s so much meat, cheese, and veggies on the sandwich that it makes it tough to fit it all in a bite.
It’s not much of a secret. I really like Jersey Giant Subs. I kind of wish there was one downtown so I don’t eat as much Jimmy John’s but there’s not. There are several locations around town including one on the west side fairly close to my house. It’s easy to get the JGS fix in town now with all the expansion.
