It’s just me finding more gas station chicken places.

I’ve seen this one coming for months.  I stop at the gas station that it’s located in fairly regularly.  I kept asking when the chicken was coming.  They kept saying “soon.”  I had given up on it ever happening…but then I stopped in last week and smelled the chicken as soon as I walked in the door.

Charley Biggs is located inside the Dylan Quick Mart on the corner of Stockbridge and Portage Street in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood.  The gas station has been there forever but the addition of chicken inside is new.

The chicken counter is located next to the register but more towards the back of the store. The cashier can move between both counters easily so they don’t need two people working. There’s an ice cream case between you and the chicken case so you do have to stretch your neck a little bit to see what’s available at the time.

I stuck to just chicken and got a 6 piece tender which comes with two sauces for $9.99. I added on a Pepsi Zero when the clerk rang me up at the counter which brought the total to just around $13.

There’s no place to eat at the gas station and I wouldn’t have eaten there anyway. I grabbed my chicken and headed back to the office.

I opened up the box to find 6 big, juicy pieces of chicken. There wasn’t a lot of flavor to it but they were big pieces. I’m so used to the Shell station where I typically get chicken and the insane amount of lemon pepper seasoning they put on it.

Not having much flavor wasn’t much of an issue because unlike most places, the sauce is included with the chicken. I got BBQ and Buffalo. Each came in branded dipping cups.

I stuck pretty much exclusively to the hot sauce. I don’t know why but I’ve been eating Buffalo sauce on pretty much anything and everything recently. I tried the BBQ and it was good…pretty thick and slightly sweet…but I was just more in a Buffalo mood.

I love gas station chicken because it’s quick and easy. I usually stop to grab a Pepsi anyway so if I can knock out lunch to, that’s a bonus.

I have no complaints about Charlie Biggs. The chicken was big and juicy. It needed a little sauce, but that was fine..the sauces were tasty too.
